The Andes Mountains, rain forests and tropical grasslands make this country very geographically diverse. Historically the economy was built on agriculture but now has a growing services and tech industry. “Libertad y Orden”, Spanish for “Freedom and Order” is the state motto.

Cuba, the largest island in the Caribbean, lies only 93 miles from the U.S. More than 11 million citizens span the island. Nickel, tobacco, sugar, citrus and fish are the islands largest exports. Cuba trades with China, Canada, the Netherlands and Spain make up almost 75% of all exports.Tourists make Cuba the 3rd most visited country in the Caribbean. Spanish remains the official language.

Germany, or Deutschland, in German, is officially the Federal Republic of Germany. With over 80 million Germans it is the most populous country of the European Union. The German economy is the world’s 4th largest. A global leader in several industrial and technological sectors, it is the second largest exporter of goods. Berlin has been the capital city since 1994, representing the new unified Germany.

The United Mexican States is the 13th largest independent nation in the world. Mexico is comprised of 31 states and a federal district. Mexico is both the 10th largest oil producer and the largest producer of silver in the world. It is estimated that Mexico will grow to the 5th largest economy in the world by 2050. Beaches along the Caribbean and the Pacific are separated by the Sierra Madre mountain range.

The Republic of Nicaragua is situated between Honduras and Costa Rica in the southern tip of North America. The Pacific lowlands and the Caribbean lowlands are separated by the central highlands. While the majority of the country speaks Spanish, there are also a half dozen regional languages still spoken. Nicaragua is considered a biodiversity hot spot which fuels an ever growing Tourist economy.

The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States. The island situated in the Greater Antilles is the smallest among its neighbors Cuba, Hispaniola and Jamaica. P.R. was ceded to the US in 1898 by Spain under the terms of the Treaty of Paris. Citizens of P.R. were granted American citizenship in 1917. A robust manufacturing sector in pharmaceuticals, textiles and electronics drives the economy.

Romania’s 20 million citizens make the East Central Europe country the 7th largest in the EU. Bordering the Black Sea this country joined the EU in 2007. The economy has grown considerably since the fall of the Iron Curtain and Romania’s revolution in 1989. Romania’s is fueled by auto exports, software, industrial machinery and clothing/textiles. Almost 5% of the economy is driven by tourism.

Russia remains one of the largest producers of oil and natural gas in the world. Russia is home to the first spacecraft and first astronaut.

Ukraine located alongside Russia and bordering Romania is home to 44 million citizens. A former member of the Soviet Union the Ukraine has been independent since 1991. Ukraine is credited with domesticating horses. Ukraine also builds Antonov airplanes. The Antonov An-225 is noted as the largest aircraft ever built. Ukraine also has the 4th largest population of IT professionals in the world.

United Sates is the world’s 3rd largest, by population and 4th largest by total land area. 317 million citizens span the 50 states, Washington D.C. and the 5 territories in the Pacific and Caribbean held by the US. The United States is also attributed as one of the world’s most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations due to its expansive immigration history from around the world.

The Republic Zimbabwe is a landlocked southern African country with the motto: “Unity, Freedom, Work”. With 16 official languages they have been self governed since 1923 as Southern Rhodesia. The world recognized their independence in 1980. Both the mining sector and tourism are economic drivers.
